Amsterdam’s international airport, Schipol, is a major European hub so there are plenty of direct flights from the US and Canada. If you’re already in Europe there are also many intra-European flight connections, and excellent road and rail links to neighboring countries.

One of the highlights of a visit to the Netherlands is seeing the tulips at Keukenhof. The season for this can begin as early as March. Visiting early means you’ll avoid the crowds in April. However April might appeal for King’s Day, possibly the largest street party in Europe celebrated all over the country. May through September sees pleasant to warm but not stifling weather. Autumnal hues take over in October. And if you’re planning on spending much time outside, this is the last month we would advise visiting until spring rolls around again.

Much of the Netherlands can be reached by train quite quickly, so you could base yourself in Amsterdam and take day trips, so a week may be enough. However if you want to experience a smaller Dutch town or city we can plan a multi-destination trip to allow you dig deeper.

As part of the Benelux trio of countries, combining the Netherlands with Belgium and Luxembourg can make for a good multi-country trip. You could also pair the Netherlands with France. A high-speed train from Amsterdam to Paris takes just three and a half hours.
